Melissa + Samuel | The Sonnet House | Alabama Wedding

The Sonnet House in Alabama was the perfect venue for Melissa + Samuel’s intimate wedding celebration. The summer weather had nothing on them for the warmth they had for those present. With it being a destination wedding five hours from home, there was a sweet closeness that every person present wanted to be there. Despite forecasts of a torrential weekend, the only things that showered on our couple were blessings and so much love.
The bride is an interior designer and they planned the whole wedding themselves! The Sonnet House had fully inclusive services of catering, decor, and florals (they were the kindest team and I highly recommend!) Melissa is a flower-lover and she had one of my favorite bouquets to ever photograph.
Right before the ceremony, Melissa had a first look with her dad. It was entirely heartwarming. Her mom passed away when she was very young, but she has the sweetest relationship with her new mom. During her first look with her dad, her grandma, mom, and all her bridesmaids were present. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight. Time stood still as each emotion was given a chance to be fully felt.
Those emotions carried over to the ceremony where Sammy got to see her for the first time. The two first met eight years ago in church and gradually built their friendship into something more. Although the program was entirely in Spanish, their love needed no translating. Song of Solomon 3:4 was the verse she walked down to and I’m so happy it’s true for them both! They’re married!!!
After the reception, they decided to do an impromptu bouquet toss for the girls AND the guys. Scroll to see how the guys pranked Sammy! That group of attendees gave them the heartiest send-off at the end, waving white balloons under the twinkling lights. This was a wedding out of a fairytale. These two love God, their family, and each other with their everything. I can’t wait to see where this marriage journey takes them!!
