Katie + Eric Wedding | Ocean Springs Beach , MS
The year 2020 has been a journey, but it’s stories like Katie + Eric’s that remind us, the best things in life can’t be lost. To protect her immunocompromised mother who had gone through chemo and a stem cell transplant not long ago, Katie had two separate small celebrations with both sides of their families. After their legal wedding in Huntsville, AL they drove six hours down to be with Eric’s side of the family here in Ocean Springs the next day, where she set up this photo session with me.
One of the questions on my Get to Know You Questionnaire was “What is most important to you at your wedding?” Here’s her response:
“This is a complicated question lol. Because of the pandemic we’ve had to constantly reevaluate our priorities. I’ve always dreamed of a big, glamorous wedding with lots of dancing and good food. I tried really hard to cling to that idea for quite a while, but now all I care about is marrying Eric.”
That brought an audible awwww from me when I read it. Not only does she have a beautiful heart, but these bridal portraits of her could belong on a magazine cover! Our Ocean Springs Beach did not disappoint.
They both went to Mississippi State, both went for mechanical engineering and both went to the same church in Starkville. Church was where they first got to know each other.
In the questionnaire, Katie mentioned that she brought Eric to her sister’s wedding two weeks after they started dating and everyone was commenting on how they’d be next. It’s been 2 1/2 years, but they weren’t wrong! The “yes” day happened in MSU’s Chapel of Memories where Eric had hidden a camera to document his candle-lit and floral-strewn proposal at the altar. Since then, they’ve both graduated, not just from college, but from engaged, too!!
Congrats to the newest Mr. & Mrs. Million!! They couldn’t have picked a better hashtag because their story truly is #OneinaMillion!
