Garden of the Gods, CO | Colorado Springs Couple’s Session

When I first met with Melissa, their honeymoon plans came up in the conversation and she said they were deciding between Tennessee or Colorado – or somewhere with mountains. It so happened that I was going to be in Colorado for a personal trip immediately following their wedding at the Sonnet House ... guess who was excited when they chose CO and booked a couple’s session up there?!
They were the true adventurer type and during our time together they were sharing stories like when they camped miles off the grid or when Sammy slept outside in his hammock during a thunderstorm. Why anyone would do that, idk, but I loved that spirit when we were exploring Colorado Springs together!
We woke up before the sun to avoid the crowds and get our glowy morning light at the Garden of the Gods. So worth it!! Climbing, exploring, walking the trails, it was a chill morning spent with two of the most genuine people. Afterward, we drove over to the Reservoirs around Pikes Peak for more walking and epic mountain photos.
Seeing God’s hand in all the little details made the trip all the sweeter. Only days before, Colorado had been hit with June record-high temps, but our session date had the most perfect weather and the gentlest breezes. I later learned that Pikes Peak had also been closed for months due to construction and had just opened up again during our week there!
I’m so grateful I could be a part of not just their wedding story, but also their happily ever after. Melissa & Sammy, it was an honor to capture your love and I’m so glad to have you both as friends now! Praying your honeymoon never ends!!
